Google opens Googlebook preorders from 899 dollars; Israel is outside the first launch wave

Googlebook moves from announcement to sale. The new computers integrate Gemini directly into the workspace, but Google has not yet published an Israeli launch date.

Google opened preorders for Googlebook, a new laptop family in which Gemini is central to the working experience, rather than just a chatbot opened in a browser.

Prices start at 899 dollars, and the first computers are expected to reach US stores in early October.

Israel is not among the first launch markets.

What changed since the May announcement

Google first introduced Googlebook in May.

The news this time is that the product is moving from presentation to commercialization. There is a price, preorders, launch models from five manufacturers and sale dates.

The starting US price is 899 dollars.

The first models come from Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP and Lenovo.

US sales begin October 4.

Canada, the UK, Ireland, France, Germany and Australia join on October 5.

How Gemini is integrated into Googlebook

Google is not presenting Googlebook merely as a computer with Gemini installed.

The company integrates AI capabilities into everyday operating system activities.

One capability is called Magic Pointer.

Magic Pointer lets users activate Gemini in the context of onscreen content with a quick cursor movement.

This can remove the need to:

  • Copy text
  • Switch to another tab
  • Paste the content
  • Explain to the system what the user is looking at

Rambler: speak, and the computer organizes

Another capability is called Rambler.

Google describes it as a tool taking an unstructured stream of speech and turning it into structured text.

For example:

  • Headings
  • Lists
  • Checklists
  • Summaries
  • Organized notes

Google describes Rambler as multilingual, but the documentation examined contains no explicit commitment to Hebrew support.

There is therefore no basis for presenting the capability as supporting Hebrew without further checking.

You can also create widgets through conversation

Googlebook includes a capability called Create My Widget.

Users describe the widget they want in natural language, and the system can build it for the desktop.

The capability reflects a broader AI trend: rather than choosing only from features the manufacturer has already built, users can describe a small tool meeting their needs.

Gemini keeps working even when the computer is closed

Google also presents a capability called Gemini Spark.

According to the company, Gemini can continue processing certain requests after the laptop lid is closed.

It remains unclear which tasks are supported, what the operating limits are and which data is processed during that time.

For developers too

Googlebook comes with a Linux environment.

Google notes that developers can run terminal tools such as Claude Code and Antigravity CLI.

Google's Antigravity development environment is also included.

This is interesting because Google is not trying to limit the computer solely to its own AI tools.

At least on the development side, Googlebook is presented as a platform also able to run competing AI coding tools.

Deeper Android integration

Google also emphasizes connectivity with Android devices.

Capabilities the company presents include:

  • Accessing files from the phone
  • Streaming phone apps to a computer window
  • Continuing supported tasks from the mobile device
  • Transferring settings during setup

Google says sensitive data such as passwords, Wi-Fi networks and messages transferred during initial setup are protected with end-to-end encryption.

This is Google's claim, not an independent AI24 security test.

What the purchase includes

According to Google, every Googlebook includes:

  • 12 months of Google AI Pro
  • 5TB of cloud storage
  • Access to the relevant Gemini Advanced tools
  • Three months of YouTube Premium
  • Three months of Adobe Photoshop
  • One year of GeForce NOW

Exact terms may vary by country and model.

The hardware

Launch models use Intel or Qualcomm processors.

Google notes that models have NPUs delivering more than 45 TOPS.

Models start with 16GB RAM, and some will be offered with 32GB.

Google also promises up to ten years of system and feature updates.

As with any hardware launch, actual performance, battery and quality figures will need testing in independent reviews.

Israel is outside the first launch wave

As of September 21, 2026, Israel is not among the launch markets.

Google has not published:

  • An Israeli preorder date
  • A shekel price
  • An Israeli retail partner
  • A date for another launch wave

The current status is therefore clear:

Googlebook will not launch in Israel in the first wave.

A future Israeli launch date has not been published.

What about Hebrew?

Gemini supports Hebrew in some Google products and services.

But this does not mean every dedicated Googlebook capability is available in Hebrew.

In the documentation examined, Google does not explicitly list Hebrew support for:

  • Magic Pointer
  • Rambler
  • Create My Widget
  • Other dedicated Googlebook capabilities

Google is trying to make AI part of the operating system

Google's move is broader than launching another computer.

The company is trying to shift the focus from the question:

"Which AI is installed on the computer?"

To:

"What can the operating system do because AI is integrated into it?"

If Magic Pointer, Rambler and on-demand widgets become a natural part of work, Googlebook could illustrate the shift from a separate chatbot to AI integrated directly into the computing environment.

For Israeli users, the current question is simpler: Google has not yet published a local launch date.
