OpenAI made ChatGPT available within Microsoft Word.
The integration enables ChatGPT tasks such as:
- Creating a draft from notes
- Summarizing a document
- Rewriting selected text
- Changing headings or structure
According to OpenAI, the capability is available across all ChatGPT plans, including Free, subject to plan limits.
In ChatGPT Business, Enterprise and Edu, administrators can control access.
OpenAI also notes that on some enterprise plans, usage within Word is billed by token count at the selected model's API rate.
The company plans to make the add-in available by default in managed environments starting October 1, subject to Microsoft 365 settings.
