Anthropic's Claude Opus 5.5 is now available on AWS through two separate offerings: Amazon Bedrock and Claude Platform on AWS.
In Amazon Bedrock, the model runs inside AWS's managed inference environment and is accessible through supported Bedrock interfaces. It also appears in Bedrock's Playground and supports prompt caching and the Invoke and Converse interfaces, among other capabilities.
Claude Platform on AWS is a different service: it provides Anthropic's native platform using AWS authentication and billing, but is operated by Anthropic rather than within Amazon Bedrock's security boundary. According to the current announcement, Claude Opus 5.5 availability through this offering is limited to North America.
Organizations choosing between the offerings should therefore consider not just the model, but also the API, data processing location and underlying infrastructure.
