GitHub has begun adding Anthropic's Claude Opus 5.5 to GitHub Copilot. The model is available to Copilot Pro+, Max, Business and Enterprise subscribers, with a gradual rollout.
Supported interfaces include Visual Studio Code, Visual Studio, Copilot CLI, GitHub.com, GitHub Mobile, JetBrains, Xcode and Eclipse. In organizations using Copilot Business or Enterprise, administrators can control access through Copilot's model policy.
GitHub bills usage through its token-based billing model, and no specific Claude Opus 5.5 multiplier has been published for users still on the old billing plan. Because the rollout is gradual, the model may not yet appear in every eligible account.
