GitHub announced a new default policy for Copilot features in General Availability in Copilot Business and Copilot Enterprise accounts. According to the company's Changelog, organization administrators get a 28-day window to review settings and choose whether to opt out of enablement before the new policy takes effect.
The change mainly matters to organizations wanting tight control over which Copilot capabilities users can access. GitHub recommends administrators review settings during the window rather than assume existing policy will remain unchanged.
This is a GitHub Copilot management and permissions change, separate from Microsoft's announcement of Copilot's new Home, Code and Autopilot structure.
